Our Story
Rooted in Ritual, Lit by the Moon
Moonglow Goods was born in a tiny Northeast Portland kitchen in 2019. Founder Eliza Hartwell, a former horticulturalist, began pouring candles as a way to unwind after long days in the soil. What started as a personal ritual — lighting a candle each evening as the moon rose — quickly became a calling.
Today, our team of four pours every candle by hand in our Belmont Street studio. We source 100% American-grown soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and steam-distilled essential oils. Every scent is named after a lunar phase or celestial event — a quiet nod to the rhythm that guides us.

Flame-free fragrance for any room. Our 4 oz reed diffusers use a base of fractionated coconut oil paired with pure essential oil blends. Lasts 3–4 months with proper care. Includes 8 natural rattan reeds.

Frequently Asked
- What kind of wax do you use, and why?
- We use 100% American-grown soy wax. Soy burns cleaner and slower than paraffin, produces less soot, and is biodegradable. It's also a renewable resource — unlike petroleum-based paraffin. Every batch is poured by hand in our Portland studio.
- Are your fragrances synthetic or natural?
- We blend steam-distilled essential oils with a small number of phthalate-free, non-toxic fragrance oils to achieve complex scent profiles that natural oils alone can't always deliver. All fragrance components are clearly listed on every product page and label.
- How long do your candles burn?
- Our 8 oz soy candles have an approximate burn time of 50–55 hours when burned properly. For best results, trim the wick to ¼ inch before each lighting and allow the wax to melt across the entire surface on the first burn to prevent tunneling.
- Do you ship outside the United States?
- Currently, we ship to all 50 U.S. states and select Canadian provinces. International shipping beyond North America is in the works. Join our newsletter for updates on expanded shipping regions.
- Can I return or exchange a product?
- Absolutely. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, we accept returns within 30 days of delivery. The product must be unused and in its original packaging. Contact us at [email protected] and we'll make it right.
